QUESTION POSED ON: 30 November 2006
My customer has a wired network. One part is coaxial (honeycomb type), the other is CAT6. Nine locations are independently wired back to a hub rather than series circuits. The coaxial system returns to an amplifier to which satellite, digital TV and cable are attached. The CAT6 hubs to an RJ-45 16 output box. I am trying to connect a coax cable through an adaptor to an RJ-45 connector but I can't find the technology. I also want to split the RJ-45 to at least nine to change their computer LAN to wired rather than wireless. I can't find this technology either.

Coaxial to RJ-45 converters are available from many sources: Red Orbit, Computers All Services, Eagle Computer and Deal Time for example.

Any standard HUB or switch with an uplink port will allow you to split out a single CAT5 or CAT6 cable to multiple RJ-45 outputs. If you already have a HUB or switch, but it doesn't have an uplink port, use a crossover cable to connect it to your original RJ-45 port.
