QUESTION POSED ON: 12 February 2007
Is there a quick and easy way to check if the switches on my customer's network support IGMP?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE

I don't know of a general way of doing this. The problem is that even switches that are IGMP capable often have the ability to disable the IGMP functionality. This means that it's not possible to test for the capability by observing the switch's response to network events. In general, each switch will have its own configuration methods and, therefore, its own way of determining whether IGMP support is present.
