QUESTION POSED ON: 05 September 2007
My client purchased a number of printers that don't require a computer to operate. Would it be possible to connect them to the company's wireless network? If so, how would I do that?

EXPERT RESPONSE

I'm assuming here that you mean printers that have memory card slots of one form or another. I've not seen a printer that doesn't have a parallel, Ethernet, or USB port. Assuming it has one of these, you can find a wireless print server that will connect to one of these ports. You'll need to install drivers and related software on client PCs, but printing will work just as if a wired connection were in place.

I usually don't recommend wireless printing since a printer doesn't move. But if you simply can't run wire to it, then wireless will work just fine here.
