A detailed explanation of what's new in IPv6 with Silvia Hagen, author of IPv6 Essentials.

  • Article: IPv6: Learn it, love it, part 2: IPv6 addressing
IPv6 expert Silvia Hagen delves into IPv6 addressing, including address types, address format and notation, prefixes, special addresses and address assignments.

  • Tip: IPv6 addresses, part 1
An understanding of address formats is the first step in learning how to prepare your customer's network for IPv6. This is part one of a two part series describing IPv6 address formats and how they are used.

  • Tip: IPv6 addresses, part 2
Once you understand the basic address changes you can begin to understand how they are used and how to ease the transition from IPv4 to IPv6. Part two describes how these address formats are used in an IPv6 network.

  • Tip: IPv6 renumbering
The difficult job of renumbering IP networks becomes easier with the new protocol -- if you keep these important factors in mind.

  • Tip: Get ready to run IPv6 (whether you want to or not)
If your customers are migrating to Vista then they'll have no choice about adopting IPv6, as some of the OS's functionality requires it.
