Now that you've built the Active Directory and certificate services infrastructure that the VPN server depends on, we'll configure the VPN server itself. The first step in the configuration process is to install IIS on the VPN server. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Server Manager console.
  2. Select the Roles container, and then click the Add Roles link found in the results pane.

  3. Windows will now launch the Add Roles wizard. Click Next to bypass the wizard's introductory screen.
  4. The wizard will now display a list of all of the available roles. Select the check box next to the Web Server (IIS) role, and click Next.
  5. You will now see an introductory screen for the IIS role. Click Next to skip this screen.
  6. The following screen displays all the various components that make up IIS. You must leave the default options selected, but you must also select the check boxes corresponding to each option in the Security section. After doing so, click Next.
  7. Click the Install button to begin the installation process. When the process completes, click the Close button.
