Network design projects comprise four distinct phases: requirements
analysis, logical design, physical design and testing. Designing a
network topology is the first step in the logical design phase. A
topology is a high-level blueprint of a network, similar to an
architectural drawing for a building. After reading this chapter, you
will know more about preparing secure, redundant, hierarchical
topologies. The topologies will be a useful tool to help you and your
customer begin the process of moving from a logical design to a
physical implementation of the customer's network.
